Mananthavady: The WE CARE project, an educational empowerment initiative for students studying in Classes 6 to 8, was inaugurated as part of the Mar Makil Educational Project, jointly implemented by the Visitation Congregation, Kottayam, and the Malabar Social Service Society since 2017.
The inaugural camp for this year’s programme was held at Pavana Pastoral Centre, Mananthavady, with the participation of 58 students.
The camp was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. George Kappukala, Forane Vicar of Perikkalloor. Rev. Fr. Jibil Kuzhivelil, Secretary of the Malabar Social Service Society, presided over the function. Rev. Sr. Cincy SVM, Regional Superior of the Malabar Region of the Visitation Congregation, delivered the keynote address.
The welcome address was delivered by Programme Coordinator Rev. Fr. Stephen Cheekkappara, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Assistant Coordinator Rev. Sr. Arun SVM.
The WE CARE programme is conducted on the second Saturday and Sunday of every month and is designed to promote the holistic development of students. The sessions include faith formation, personality development, public speaking, skill development, adolescent awareness, digital literacy and responsible use of technology, along with continuous academic support in subjects covered in their school curriculum.
The programme is coordinated by the SJC and SVM Sisters of Perikkalloor Forane, with the support of lay facilitators who actively lead the training sessions.
