In collaboration with the Government of Kerala and the Kerala Police, Caritas Hospital & Institute of Health Sciences hosted the Operation Toofan – Central Travancore Regional Launch.
The event, held at the Caritas Auditorium, was inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Chennithala, Minister for Home and Vigilance, Government of Kerala. The function was presided over by Mar Joseph Pandarasseril, Chairman of Caritas Hospital and Auxiliary Bishop of Kottayam.
Organized as part of “Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt,” one of Kerala’s largest anti-drug initiatives, the programme aimed to strengthen the collective commitment to building a drug-free society. The event brought together government representatives, senior police officials, and leaders from the education and healthcare sectors, who discussed strategies for preventing substance abuse, institutional responsibility, youth engagement, and the importance of coordinated community action.
As part of the programme, participants took the Toofan Pledge, and three key initiatives—SHIELD – HR Policy, Health Commission, and Teachers Guild—were officially launched to reinforce anti-drug awareness and prevention efforts.
The event was attended by Adv. Mons Joseph, Minister for Water Resources and Housing; Ravada A. Chandrasekhar, State Police Chief; Yathish Chandra G. H., Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ernakulam Range; Nattakom Suresh, MLA; Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director of Caritas Hospital; Sabu Mathew K., District Police Chief, Kottayam; Joint Directors; and members of the Caritas Hospital team.
The launch of Operation Toofan – Central Travancore Region marked a significant step in strengthening public awareness and fostering a united community response against substance abuse.
